Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is another treatment offered for at our Franklin office. Root canal therapy is a good option for patients with abscessed teeth. In contrast to popular belief, root canal treatment usually involves little or no pain. When there is pain, it can often be alleviated by a small dose of medicine and antibiotics. At Dr. Blourchian’s practice, root canals are typically completed in just one appointment, reducing both the amount of time required for the procedure and discomfort experienced by the patient.

Periodontal (Gum) Disease Treatment

Gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss for adults in the United States. It has also been linked to heart disease, making it a significant risk factor for heart attacks. Periodontal disease is known as a silent disease, meaning patients are usually unaware of it. Common signs of gum disease include bleeding gums when brushing and flossing, loose teeth, and teeth separating from each other.

Treatment of gum disease at Dr. Blourchian’s practice involves several appointments for deep cleaning (scaling) along with recommended home care for the patient. Of course, if you have gum disease but fear the dentist, we offer sedation (sleep) dentistry to put you at ease. In some cases, Nashville, Franklin, and surrounding area patients are referred to a specialist for surgical treatment. Practicing good oral hygiene habits and frequent professional cleanings are excellent ways to maintain a healthy smile, free of gum disease and other bacteria.

For more information about periodontal (gum) disease treatment, contact Dr. Blourchian today. Our office is located in close proximity to Brentwood and we are pleased to offer superb dental care for Nashville, Rutherford County, and surrounding Tennessee area residents.

Valplast® Partials

Valplast® partials, otherwise known as partial (removable) dentures, is a relatively new technique that fills gaps left by missing teeth. This family dentistry treatment has no unsightly clasps and is made of thin, flexible, semi-translucent, and very light materials that blend with your teeth and gums, making it virtually indistinguishable from the rest of your mouth. Partial dentures are held in place with discreet tooth-colored clasps that are attached to natural teeth. Usually made of resin, partial dentures allow more comfortable and effective chewing, improved speech, and prevent sagging of the cheeks and lips. To find out if Valplast® partials are right for you, please contact our practice today.

Sedation (Sleep) Dentistry

People who avoid seeking dental care because of fear or anxiety can now have their mouth rehabilitated in a few dental visits with no pain, anxiety, stress, and little or no memory of the visit later. This is all thanks to the revolutionary treatment of sedation (sleep) dentistry, offered at our Franklin practice.

Most people are to some degree made anxious by the prospect of a dental visit. However, for others it is extremely difficult or impossible to cope with the fear. The reasons for this fear can be numerous, usually due to a traumatic experience during childhood. This overwhelming anxiety can cause one to avoid modern dental care, resulting in poor oral hygiene and possible mouth-related diseases.

Dental phobia is quite different than simple fear of dentistry. The classic sign is "avoidance behavior." The afflicted person does everything to avoid the situation. This results in neglected mouths that are often painful. These patients sometimes have a low self-esteem due to an unpleasant smile or oral malodor. This can be accompanied by diminished chewing ability and associated problems.

If you suffer from dental phobia, sedation dentistry may be the answer for you. At Dr. Blourchian’s Nashville suburb office, several patients have successfully completed dental treatment using this state-of-the-art and effective technology.

Dr. Blourchian and his caring staff take your situation seriously. Your comfort is our top priority and we will help you get the treatment needed to make your smile radiant.

How We Can Help

At our practice, the goal is to provide you with sedation (sleep) dentistry so you don’t experience pain, anxiety, or fear when undergoing a dental procedure. Patients can rest assured that Dr. Blourchian will listen to your needs and keep you informed of all your options, so your treatment is successful.

Inhalation Sedation

This sedation (sleep) dentistry treatment offered at our practice involves a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) inhaled by the patient through a rubber mask. This gas produces a feeling of well being and relaxation, without complete loss of consciousness. Nitrous oxide is perfectly safe, simple, and commonly used on children. The effects of gas wear off quickly after the mask is removed.

Oral Sedation

The use of oral sedative drugs has a long history in dentistry and it is an effective sleep dentistry treatment used on several of our patients. This procedure involves taking medication one hour before your appointment. You will be completely relaxed and comfortable as you walk into the treatment room. Patients usually return home and fall asleep after the treatment. It is common for many to wake up and remember little or nothing about the procedure.

Dr. Allen Blourchian is pleased to offer advanced technology at his Franklin practice. Each is designed to make your dental visit safe and comfortable.

Patient Interactive Education CD

We believe that every patient should have a complete understanding of his or her dental health, as well as the treatment needed. We use the Patient Interactive Education CD to inform and educate our patients about family dentistry, sedation dentistry, and other types of procedures we perform. Pictures are accompanied with a thorough narration, making the treatments easy to understand.

DIAGNOdent®

The DIAGNOdent® is a new laser used for early detection and diagnosis of tooth decay. DIAGNOdent® locates decay that may be hidden in the cracks and crevices of teeth by measuring the depth of a suspicious lesion on a tooth using laser light. Earlier detection means less damage, pain, and hassle for you down the road. Contact our practice today to learn more about the DIAGNOdent® technology.

Intraoral Camera

The intraoral camera is a diagnostic tool we use in several family dentistry procedures at our Franklin area office. It is a tiny video camera that projects a life-like image of your oral cavity on the TV screen. For more information on the intraoral camera or any other technology offered at our practice, contact Dr. Blourchian today.

Implant Dentistry with i-CAD and SimPlant®

These two revolutionary systems are part of our state-of-the-art implant dentistry treatments. They utilize three-dimensional imaging with unparalleled diagnostic software to help Dr. Blourchian accurately plan for each phase of dental implant surgery and reconstruction.

Digital X-rays

New Image Dentistry is pleased to provide one of the latest advances in oral health care: digital X-rays. Digital X-rays dramatically decrease radiation exposure, are more comfortable for the patient, and give clear, instant images that can be reviewed almost immediately after they are taken.

Totally Paper-less Digital Office

To improve patient care and practice management, our Franklin office is "paper-less": all patient files, including digital X-rays, are stored digitally. Because all our data is organized and integrated in an easy-to-reach format, it can easily be shared with other treating specialists or doctors. All electronic medical records are highly protected, giving patients peace of mind about the security of their personal information.
